“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
It’s difficult to watch our children struggle through fear. We see how it holds them back from experiencing life to the full. As Mamas, we can storm the heavenlies with prayers to equip us as we parent and prayers to free our children from the chains of fear. Praying against our Child’s Fear: Lord, As I rest my eyes upon this child You allow me to parent, I’m overwhelmed by the responsibility. I know You are the answer, not me. You are the power in all things. Lord, I pray specifically for the fear I’ve witnessed in (child’s name). I see it threaten his/her freedom. Father, I ask You to fill (name) with a spirit NOT of fear but one of power, love and self-discipline (2 Tim 1:7). I ask You to defeat fear by binding the enemy and canceling his power in my child's soul. I pray for You to nestle deep within his/her heart. May (child’s name)'s knowledge and relationship with You grow deeper each day, paving a path of peace and freedom from fear. I pray for You to be his/her courage. For Lord, I know You are my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? You are the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid? (Ps. 27:1). I receive and claim every promise of peace for my child. I thank You and praise You in advance, Lord, for the freedom my child will someday have by the power of Your Name. I also thank You for the path You will set before me as the mother of my unique child. I know that You will open doors that need opening, close doors that need closing, and fill my mind and actions with the wisdom needed each step of the way. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen. -Lori
