“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 6: 22, 23)
I woke early this morning to Beth Moore talking about God waking her at 4:00 am. And even though it was only 5:30 at my house, I decided to get up, wash my hair, pour some coffee, and pull out my Bible and laptop. The day was so bright and fresh that it struck me. I've been missing out on early mornings! There's so much light, so early on! So much I can do that I miss out on when I stay up late at night, doing whatever. It's the same with our spirit. Sisters, there is so much light for us to walk in, early in our experience with God. There is so much light for us to share with our kids, early in their experience with life. And if our hearts are healthy, our whole life will be full of light. What's one dark place in your heart that you can rid yourself of today? Perhaps an unhealthy habit, or a toxic thought pattern? I like listening to Dr. Caroline Lief, who talks about how the brain is a physical part of the body that can be renewed and made healthy, just like any other part of the body. Our minds can literally be re-wired with thoughts that benefit our health rather than tear it down. Take a toxic thought and replace it with a true one. Filter your mind just as you clean your house. Refuse entrance to some thoughts while deliberately inviting others in. “If your [mind] is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” Let's get a move on, early in our experience with God, and know the fruit that comes from walking in light, rather than the darkness that comes when we ignore light. -Sara
