This past week we talked about parenting as a whole. Whether it is our words, our emotions, who we are letting pour into us, or our plans, we see a common thread through it all. Parenting with Christ is what makes the difference. He provides us with the ultimate parenting handbook.
“Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.” (Proverbs 13:3 NLT) Our words have so much power. As moms, we have the opportunity to set the tone of our homes. Let’s be women who set it with grace and love. “People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.” (Proverbs 14:29 NLT) Are you reacting with grace or with anger? Many times we simply have to step away and look at the whole picture. “Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.” (Proverbs 15:22) Let others into your mess. Bring those who speak life into your lives. “We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 NLT) Make your plans wisely and then hold them with loose hands. Always be willing to make changes because you never know what God may be doing. “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength.” (Proverbs 17:22 NLT) Even in the hard seasons, we can choose joy. Joy brings healing and life to us. As parents, we are so weary, yet we can find strength when we start to count the good. -Keri
