“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength.” (Proverbs 17:22 NLT)
As I sat on the couch, my two boys and little girl snuggled next to me. A worn quilt covered us, warming our weary bodies. In the middle of what had been a chaotic day, joy was creeping into my soul and overshadowing all the stress I’d felt. It had been a morning of ups and downs, but in that simple moment all was good. Suddenly, the tiring moments of the day seemed so small in comparison to the current moment. Friends, there is something soothing and healing about joy. It truly is good medicine. Even in the hardest of seasons, we can look around and find the good. However, what do you do when it seems like there is nothing good? What do you do when everything is going wrong? You reflect on the goodness of God. You reflect on His character and praise Him for that. As you choose to do this, you will feel your heart restoring. LIfe is full of the unexpected. There is the good and the hard, but in it all we can make the decision to see the good—even in the mess. -Keri
