“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?” (Matthew 7:15-16 NKJV)
Not everyone who calls themselves a Bible teacher or preacher is ordained by God. Not every person we hear over the radio is preaching the truth. Nor is every book found in the Christian section of the bookstore untainted by worldly wisdom and doctrine.
We need to keep ourselves grounded in the truth of Jesus Christ.
Trust me, I know it’s hard to find time to spend with God as a busy mom. That is why this app exists. Because I know moms need quick encouragement and don’t have hours to search cross references or read five chapters of the Bible a day.
But it is so easy to immerse ourselves in God’s Word in this technology-filled world. Did you know you can go to the Bible tab of this app and listen to Scripture while you wash dishes, drive the kids to school or take a shower?
No, you can’t take notes and highlight your favorite verses, but you can listen to the same passages over and over again until you can say them in your sleep. You can probably sing the theme song from your kid’s favorite show in your sleep after hearing it repeatedly – it will work with the Bible too!
The only way to clearly spot those wolves in sheep’s clothing that want to devour us and our families is to immerse ourselves in God’s Word.
We also need to be proactive in filling our kids with God’s Word, so they can grow in discernment. Have them listen to the Bible while you eat breakfast or while they’re in bed at night. Work on memory verses with them. Fill their days with Scripture so that measuring everything against it becomes as natural as breathing for them. You can equip them to become warriors themselves!
