Scripture Prayer #24

My sister sent me the cutest gift ever this last week, and each item is something I'm putting on my list of gifts to give to others. I mean how cute are ALL of these gifts? The facial masks feel amazing. The tea is so pretty, and as my sister said, "...doesn't taste like sadness and regret." And then, there's the mug, which has become my very favorite and I drink a lot more coffee and tea than I usually do. ;)

We got Not Quite Narwhal for our 2 year old last year. This adorable storybook quickly became one of her favorites. The illustrations and story could hardly be more charming. It's a perfect book for any kid, but I love the subtle open adoption message that can be pulled from it. But seriously, if you don't have this book in your kids library, grab a copy, because it's bound to become a timeless class.

P.S I recently put some extra time and effort into organizing the kid's playroom, and these storage cubes and bins  are playing a huge part in keeping everything neat and organized. In fact, I just order some more of each today, to do some more organizing around the house! I love that they are durable and affordable.

I did a little shopping around, both in store and online, and these folding pins are the best price I was able to find, which made me very happy! The storage cubes are totally customizable. You an put them together in any shape, or even separate the cubes, which is what I'm planning to do with the next set that is currently on its way to my house. ;)

My husband gave me this journaling Bible for Valentine's several years ago and I LOVE it. It has so much space to write notes, and do a little illustrating, if you care too. I like to add a few drawings here and there, to help me find a passage easier, but I mostly value the very wide, lined margins for note-writing. I also love that it's NKJV, which I discovered is rare for a journaling Bible. NKJV is my base translation and it's so nice to have one in this format!

When Faithfulness is Just Boring (Newsletter)

With Daring Faith was a childhood favorite of mine. I don't know how many dozens of times I read it as a young girl. Amy Carmichael was my ultimate hero and I so badly wanted to move to India and be just like her! Her story gave me a fire for Jesus and mission work that has never died. And now I'm reading it to my kids every morning, and I see the story working in their hearts and a fire starting to kindle for the work of Jesus. It's written for 8-12 year olds, I'd say, but my 5 & 6 year old are greatly enjoying it, so I think it's good for all ages!

Stepping Heavenward has impacted my Christian walk, marriage, motherhood, and world-view more than any book I've ever read, besides the Bible, of course. I highly, highly recommend it to every teen, young adult and woman, ever.

It's actually a novel from the 19th century, written by the beloved author of the song, Nearer my God to Thee. But this book is anything but stuffy and antiquated, believe me.
Written as the journal of a young girl, it follows her life from a selfish, 16 year old Christian, to a mature, Jesus-centered woman of grown children. How one book can touch on as many aspects of life as this one does, without being overwhelming, I don't know, but it does. I really don't think you will regret buying this, and you'll find yourself reading it over and over again. Can you tell I LOVE it? ha!

Our family has been (slowly) going through Long Story Short together. We don't get it done every day, but it has still been invaluable to instilling Bible truths in our kids hearts. It is very well-written for kids (and parents!) of all ages, and I love the way it very systematically goes through the story of the Old Testament, while connecting every single story with Jesus. We'll be going right to the second book, Old Story New, which covers the New Testament, when we're finished with this!

Adding baby number four to our family has brought the demand that I get a little more organized with my daily schedule. Or a lot more. ;) Anyway, I started this book a year and a half ago or so, and just picked it up again since we brought our baby home.

It has been *amazing* for this season of life. I love it, because it's a grace-filled view of scheduling our mornings and puts Jesus first, always. I think you might love it too!

I bought the Adventum Bible story CDs for my kids earlier this year and they LOVE them. And I do too. I find myself enthralled with the storyline, crying my eyes out, or raising my hands and saying "hallelujah!". The story of humanity is accurately told, with full cinematic sound effects and a bit of imaginative conversation at times. And the second set is releasing soon! We are SO excited. If you're looking for a good Summertime, listen, I think you and your kids will love these!

My Mom gave me the sweetestlullaby CD for our precious baby Branson. The music and singing are soft and soothing and the words to the songs are so meaningful. My favorite song is the Head to Toe (The Armor of God Song) and my 2 year old's favorite is #13 (I don't remember the name off the top of my head). We like to turn it up and slow dance around the kitchen to it. Even if you don't have a baby, I think you'll love this CD!
Since we're talking about Lullaby CDs, I just have to share another favorite of ours, because I love sharing things we love! Every song in Scripture Lullabies is based on a Bible verses and the music sounds like a movie score. I LOVE all three of these CDs!
